CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF, money does not grow on trees. the bright morals of upstanding ideals may sate the soul but the body requires real nutrition. food, and other materials of value, cannot be sustained on noble ideals. they must be perpetuated on an economy of value.

what value does reconstruction bring? it is a necessary evil but one that becomes a trap the more times it has to be undertaken. the same can be said about security. a weapon that is never needed is an ideal life but a wasteful investment.

unfortunately, very few understand that far. as the league becomes saturated in initiatives, mobilization, and other resource intensive endeavors, the responsibility of the financial division becomes burden with endless requests.

fernando invites hoenn’s many foreign sovereigns to discuss such matters. for they have invaded and prospered off hoenn’s suffering for far too long.

today, he invites the most flagrant offender: GALAR.

Ever since Remiel Calcifet has left his post of Galarian Ambassador, the prince had been making a name for himself as an archaeologist. She’s glad that Remy got to do everything he wanted before he sunk into the politics of their country.[break][break]

And that responsibility fell to her now. Being a royal ambassador to a reconstructing, recovering country that is under the reign of the current Prime Minister and her aunt, the Queen. [break][break]

“I am here as requested, sir.” With royal dignity and attitude of a Galarian princess, she’d give a respectful curtsy as she speaks formally. “What purpose have you summoned me for?”[break][break]

FERNANDO SILPH ’s one eye devours her and there is much to read from the Head of Hoenn’s Foreign Relations. If she had talked to him back then, her shyness would have her retreat from the piercing glance from the man. He would’ve questioned why she was picked as Remiel’s successor when the prince had many more candidates to take that job.[break][break]

But this year? Her job now has made her much more reassured of herself and less timid of people. It may had something to do with the fact that it did require her to communicate with people more.[break][break]

Blunt words from the councilman hit like a knife to one’s gut. She’s sure that her elder cousin had told him those same words, but this man isn’t convinced that both Galar and her would be on the League’s side. Not when the shadow of Remiel Calcifet being a former Rocket still lingered in the minds of every person that encountered him.[break][break]

“Well, yes but…” Elise starts while her elder cousin’s former allegiance with Rocket makes her suspect to people who doubted her country’s alliances. “I have made it abundantly clear that as long as I am in office, I do not support the actions that Rocket takes in this region. They are terrible people who made people suffer.”[break][break]

And she would die on that hill if she had to convince the Head of Foreign Relations that Galar was not allied with people like them.[break][break]

No matter how she tried to state that her own words and intent wouldn’t be what Galar did, it remained dreadfully clear that Remiel Calcifet indeed had actions that spoke louder than any words she can make up to convince this man of the non-existent guilt her country had. He stood taller too as he said this, a stark reminder that he’s the bigger man who had more power in this region than she can ever have.[break][break]

“Then…” The Galarian royal ambassador takes a deep breath and calms herself, instead of shedding tears of defeat on the spot. She knows that she’s royalty, first and foremost, and a royal princess does not cry or show weaker feelings. “Mr. Silph, what must Galar and I do to show in actions that we are to convince you of our trustworthiness?”[break][break]

Fernando was insistent, sure, but she can’t give up on everything that Remiel Calcifet left behind in a mess. “Because if I show you that I can clean up my elder cousin’s mess from his time in Rocket, I will perhaps be able to earn that trust back from Hoenn’s government.” She replies to the man’s cutting words to her. “I am very much aware that my predecessor has eroded that trust and I’d want to change that completely even if it goes against Her Majesty, the Queen’s wishes.”

Remiel Calcifet’s mother was a cruel matriarch. Every word that she spews out of her mouth towards Hoenn was spiteful in spite of both Elise and her elder cousin’s statement that they both wanted to help Hoenn. The ambassador, in listening to the councilman’s words, follows the wishes that he wants her country to do for Hoenn than what she alone can do.[break][break]

“I will have Galar aid Hoenn and it will act in putting its stakes in the war to give foreign assistance.” Elise isn’t sure how, given that the decision would rest on both the monarch and the prime minister, but they both needed to be talked to. “That is correct, the Queen cares little for Hoenn and its happenings due to her contempt for the region. She wants to bring back Remiel Calcifet to Galar, so that he will be the one to take the throne.”[break][break]

She gives out a sigh when she spoke of this.[break][break]

“For Galar’s aid to happen in Hoenn’s upcoming wartime, I will have to speak with and convince both the Queen and the Prime Minister, they are the ones that have power.” A firm nod comes from the female ambassador since she wants to right those wrongs that Remiel made. “If I can attain troops from the Galarian military itself, they will help shore up the defenses on Hoenn’s port cities and assist the Hoennian military.”

soldiers are humans. a resource that is impossible to always control, fraught with their own incorrect decisions. they can be turned and, most importantly, their allegiance is to galar first.

Everything that Remiel teaches her was for the passing of the proverbial torch from one predecessor who knew his way in Galarian politics to a new greenhorn who had to take up the work he did for Galar. She had to consider the value in a refused partnership since Galar wouldn’t see anything less than to keep themselves isolated from any help.[break][break]

“There would be no value in a partnership that won’t come to pass if the monarch, our queen, refuses.”[break][break]

Her mind races with the possibility that she may have to ask Remiel for his help in talking with his mother. Only the Queen would listen to her son, who was the golden boy of the family.[break][break]

The ambassador falters in a way that the Head of Hoenn’s Foreign Relations counters that her wish would be second to Galarian interest and puts the people of Hoenn in mind. Never mind that she would put Galarian interest in the current alliance her country offered with Hoenn. This was going in circles over the way that Mr. Silph speaks.[break][break]

As much as she wanted to get angry, there was an eerie sense of calm. No point in losing her courtly Galarian dignity or to behave improperly as a royal princess of Galar. That would put the Queen’s manners to shame.[break][break]

“Galar is only unreliable because I have not negotiated with the Queen yet and it does not pose a huge risk in being in this alliance.” She gives her response and turn that conversation on its head. “And with all due respect, Mr. Silph, were you aware that the League’s Calyrex has placed its faith in me during everyone’s audience at the League’s Dyna Tree?”[break][break]

Many, if not some of the League’s other officials were in attendance of that day too while the bestowment of the shard was what people can see.[break][break]

“I am sure that my Calyrex will help sow trust with Hoenn’s people as much as he has won the hearts of many of my Galarian people.”
